Tommy went home to be with the Lord on August 3, 2018; the day after his 77th birthday. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends; the service will be to celebrate Tommy’s life and give thanks for all the wonderful blessings that our gracious Lord bestowed on Tommy and his family. While the last several years were hard for him, he is now with his Father in Heaven and his body has been healed and is new again.
The funeral service for Tommy, will be held at noon on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo. The family will receive friends Monday, August 6, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, in Westover Memorial Park, Augusta, GA.
Tommy was born August 2, 1941 in Glascock County, GA; he was a son of the late John Lewis and Sarah Faglier Kitchens. He was the husband of 56 years, Sylvia Laverne Guy Kitchens. Tommy was a member of Grace Point Presbyterian Church. He retired from NCR, AT&T and the SC Department of Corrections. Following his retirement, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and playing golf with his friends. Family, friends and the church were his life.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Sylvia, are three daughters, Deborah Ann Simmel (Jon-Frederick), Donna Kitchens Wagner (Robert), Angela Michelle Floyd (Dean); six wonderful grandchildren, Caroline Gillion Simmel, Jon-Christian Thomas Simmel, Caitlin Elease Wagner, Grant Avery Wagner, Katherine Lilly Floyd, Addison Faith Floyd; sisters, Sarah LaFavor, Martha Scott, and JoAnn Sodd and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother, J.L. Kitchens; sisters, Libby Blodgett and Ruth Moore.
