Marvin George Klinkerman, 85, exchanged the cross of this life for a crown on July 4, 2013, in his home in Iowa Park, Texas, with his devoted wife (of 63 years), daughters and numerous grandchildren at his side. He married his life-long mate, Virginia Haynes, on March 12, 1950. He raised his two daughters, Pam and Beverly, in Trinity Lutheran Church at Clara, and his unwavering faith stood as a beacon for his 2 children, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandsons.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 8, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Clara, Texas, where Marvin was a life-long member. Rev. Keith Kubitz of Vernon, Texas, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Clara Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home of Iowa Park. Grandsons and great-grandsons will be pallbearers. Family and friends are invited to a visitation meal at Clara fellowship hall afterwards.
Born October 6, 1927, in Electra, Texas, to Oscar and Lydia (Holtzen) Klinkerman, Marvin had two older sisters and was the oldest of four brothers. He learned the value of a day’s work from an early age, as he started farming with his father at the age of 8. He is known all over Wichita County as an outstanding farmer/rancher and a man of integrity. Marvin, who lived for his family, his faith and his farm, was committed to a life of hard work.
In death Marvin rejoined his mother and father, sister Neva Steinert, brother Harold Klinkerman, sister and brother-in-law Helen and Carl (Mutt) Shirley, and two sons-in-law Phil McClendon and Danny Bohannon.
He is mourned by his wife, Virginia, daughters Pam Cox and husband Donnell of Madill, Oklahoma, and Beverly Bohannon of Iowa Park; grandchildren, Devin Daulton and wife, Tammy of Wichita Falls; Kellie Holt of Gainesville, Texas; Codye Nelson and husband Paul of Shreveport, Louisiana; Clay Parker and wife Casey of Iowa Park; Kasey Davis and husband Scott of Madill, Oklahoma; and West Bohannon and wife Tonya of Iowa Park; great grandchildren Dustin Daulton and wife Amy; Heather Parsons and husband Josh; Dylan Nelson; Kaitlyn Holt, Trent Daulton, Ethan Nelson, Jared Davis, Logan Bohannon, Brady Bohannon, Bailey Bohannon; great-great grandchildren Hunter Parsons, Kyle Daulton and River Parsons; sister Marion Black of Midlothian, Texas; brothers Gerald Klinkerman and wife Pat of Victoria, Texas and Gene Klinkerman and wife Linda of Burkburnett; brothers and sisters-in-law Dick and Doris Doores and Harold and Carol Haynes; and numerous nieces and nephews who considered him their “favorite uncle.”
The legacy of his love of family and faith in God will encourage and challenge his children and grandchildren for generations to come.
