Katherine Willie Diggs Gentry

Katherine Diggs Gentry, age 69, was born in Olney, Young County,Texas on September 5, 1942 and passed away at 4:30p.m.on Thursday, September 29, 2011, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Sam C. Diggs and Dora Dodd.

Katherine loved life and enjoyed the outdoors. She also enjoyed helping others as a Home Health Care worker. She was a wonderful mother of two kids, Tammie Gentry Martin and Bobby Lon Gentry. She was a loving wife for 50 years to husband, Weldon Gentry.

She is survived by her husband, Weldon Gentry of Electra, Texas; daughter, Tammie Gentry Martin and husband, Donald L., of Electra, Texas; son, Bobby Leon Gentry and wife, Melanie, of Olney, Texas; aa brother, Corley L. Diggs and wife, Arnell, of Olney, Texas; 3 grandsons, Robin Andrew Martin, Zachary Aaron Martin and Bryan Leon Gentry; 2 granddaughters, Megan Gentry and Miranda Gentry; 3 great grandsons, Landon Martin, Jace Gentry and Ryder Gentry; 3 great granddaughters, Aubri Nichole Martin, Madyson Lanabella Martin and Dixie Gentry; and mother-in-law, Bertha Gentry of Electra, Texas.

Katherine is also survived by several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Helen and Johnny Vestal, Robert and Margaret Gentry, Dorothy Rodgers and Jessie Gentry, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and very close friends of the family, Jay and Ruth Hickey of Vernon, Texas, and Jim and Juanita Pendergrass of Wichita Falls, Texas.

Her funeral service will be held on Monday, October 3, 2011 at 10:30AM at the Dutton Funeral Home Chapel in Iowa Park, Texas, with Rev. Darrel Stroud, pastor, officiating. Internment will follow at the Electra Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
