Julia Berry Scarbrough passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015 in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Monday, November 23, 2015 at First United Methodist Church of Iowa Park with Rev. Rick Davis, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery in Iowa Park under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
Julia was born April 5, 1925 in Wichita Falls, Texas. in 1936, she moved to California. After high school graduation in Porterville, California, she worked for Naval Supply in Oakland, California. In 1945, she moved back to Texas and has been a resident of Iowa Park since 1953. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women in Iowa Park. She was also a former member of Iowa Park Lioness Club and Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority.
Julia was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas C. Berry, parents Sinnett and Edna Hinkle Sands and a baby girl. In 2006, she married her high school sweetheart, Marcus Scarbrough, from Chula Vista, California. She is survived by her husband, Marcus, daughter Jamie Lou and husband, Bobby Knecht of Iowa Park; son, Lyndel Berry of Alvord, Texas; brother, Wayne and wife, Ermoline Sands of San Juan Capistrano, California; sister, Roberta Keegan of Madras, Oregon; grandchildren, Aaron Owensby and wife, Tiffany; Nicky and husband, Brent Bruner; Lyndel Berry, Jr. and Thomas Berry; Keri and husband, Jeff Watts; Jason Knecht and Tammie Bridges; 15 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, November 22, at Dutton Funeral Home. Donations may be made to Iowa Park Friendly Door, Hospice of Wichita Falls, or the First United Methodist Church building fund.
