MacLean, Neil Dan “Donnie”- 65, of Kenloch, Inverness Co., passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2012, in the QEII Health Science Center, Halifax, surrounded by his loving family. Born at North Lake Ainslie on January 28, 1947, he was a son of the late John "Jack Lewis" and Mary (MacIsaac) MacLean (North Lake Ainslie). Donnie was the long-time owner and operator of Don’s Auto Salvage & Towing, Inverness and Port Hastings.
Donnie is survived by his wife, Marie (MacMillan); daughters, Bridget (Jamie) Beaulieu, Maine; and Dawn Marie, Port Hastings; son, Nelson, Toronto; sisters, Jennie MacLean, Scotsville; Isabelle (Russ) Burton, Ont.; sister-in-law, Karen MacLean, Strathlorne; father and mother-in-law, Mary and William MacMillan, East Lake Ainslie; brothers-in-law, Bill, Dartmouth; Allan (Kathleen),Alberta; and Kevin (Beverly) MacMillan, North East Margaree; several nieces and nephews.
Also survived by aunts and uncles, Jessie (Bernie) Cameron, Mabou; Leona (John) Shaw, West Lake Ainslie; John “Bibby” (Mary) Kennedy, Alliston, Ont.; Pauline Kennedy, Inverness and by numerous cousins. Donnie was predeceased by brother, Robert “Russell” MacLean and infant sister, Florence as well as several aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be held in Inverness Funeral Home on Friday, December 21, from 7-9p.m. and Saturday December 22, from 2-4 and 7-9p.m. Funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. in St. John’s United Church, Strathlorne with Pastor Maggie Plant celebrating. Burial to follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Strathlorne. Family flowers only, donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
