MacLeod, Mary Margaret “Maggie”, 1931-2014 – We are saddened to announce the passing of our beautiful angel on Sunday, February 2, 2014 in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. Maggie was born in Lordoise on April 6, 1931 to the late Edward and Sophie (Taylor) Landry of St. Peters. Maggie leaves behind her loving husband Dan Allan MacLeod of Port Hood; brother Edward Landry of St. Peters, children; Bernie (Rose), Ruth (Lewis) MacDonald, Colleen (Graham) Mombourquette, Mary (Wes) Jardine, Allan MacLeod, Stanley (Angela) MacLeod, Linda MacLeod, Nancy (Mike) MacLeod, and Pauline (Stephen Richard) MacLeod; 24 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren who she loved very much. Maggie was predeceased by her daughter Anita MacLeod; siblings Edna Landry, Mary Jane Forrest, Leonard Landry, and Ernest Landry. She was a very kind-hearted woman who would do so much for many. She loved her music and was a huge fan of Rita MacNeil (Flying on Your Own) If anyone spoke badly about Rita MacNeil, or her music, they would get an ear full! Maggie also leaves behind her Honey Bunny, her precious cat who she adored very much. She loved getting visits from all her family and friends and loved having her hot cup of tea with the bag ‘in’ of course. Maggie will be sadly missed by all but never forgotten. Visitation will be held in Port Hood and Area Resting Place on Wednesday, Feb 5 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, Feb 6 at 11am in St. Peter’s Church, Port Hood with Fr. Vincent vanZutphen officiating. Burial in the Parish Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society. The family would like to thank the Doctors, and nursing staff at Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion they show toward their patients, which is amazing to see.
