Frank was born in Colindale, Inverness Co., N.S. on Nov. 3rd, 1925, to Mary A. (MacDonald) and William J. Sutherland.
He was the last surviving member of his family, being predeceased by brothers, Alex, Johnny and Collie, as well as sisters, Helen and Kay and infant son, William. He leaves behind his wife, Edna (MacDonald); sons, Bryan, Randy and Derek; daughter-in-law, Judi; grandchildren, Kristen and Keenan; great-grandchildren, Elsie and Colin; and many nieces and nephews in Port Hood and beyond.
Frank was employed by Dominion Bridge as a steel worker on the Angus L. MacDonald bridge in Halifax when he met a young Inverness Lass at an Old Time Dance. They would marry a few years later and then enjoy the next 65 years together. Frank would take his skill set and move on to become a dedicated employee with CNR for 30 years before enjoying 34 years of retirement. Frank was a kind and gentle soul who enjoyed nothing better than an Inverness square set, a good game of crib (legendary player), a drive to Port Hood to visit his brother, Alex or a trip to a ballfield or rink anywhere around the province to proudly watch his boys.
