William “Bill” Hopper,
88, of Indianapolis, departed this life Friday, February 4, 2022. Bill was born September 21, 1933 in Indianapolis to the late William Eugene and Mary (Russell) Hopper. Bill had worked in sales most of his life with Sears Roebuck and Company and Watson’s.
Bill was a kind and gentle soul who enjoyed making memories with his family more than anything else. He was a devout Christian. He loved summer days on Geist Reservoir and at his cottage on Lake Monroe. He was man of many talents: a good fisherman, water skier, roller skater, and well known for his skee ball mastery. Gramps loved playing with, and perhaps spoiling, his granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Bill was loyal to his hometown sports teams and was an Indiana Pacers season ticket holder and never missed watching an Indianapolis Colts game. He was crazy about his dog Reggie.
He was preceded in death by his son, Randy Hopper and siblings, Shirley Fowler, Faye Kuhn, Bob and Don Hopper. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 69 yrs. Mary J. (Gifford) Hopper; devoted daughter, Debi (Steve) Hartman; beloved granddaughters, Stephanie (Chad) Lynn and Susan Hartman and dear great-grandchildren, Emma, Frantz and Céfie.
Visitation for Bill will begin at 11:00 am and conclude at time of services at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 8th at Leppert Mortuary – Nora Chapel. Interment follows at Lincoln Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to The Oaks Academy, 2301 N. Park Ave., Indianapolis, in 46205, or any charity of your choosing.
