November 3, 1945 to September 30th 2024
Sally is survived by her husband of 53 years, James Borse, her four children, Jennifer, Christina, Suzanne and Stephen and their extended families including two sons-in-law, both named Chris, daughter-in-law Sara, and Christina’s three children—Sally’s grandchildren— Anna, Cameron and Evelyn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Calista Brandt, and her sister, Joyce Brandt, but is also survived by her brother Christopher Brandt.
In addition to raising her family, Sally began her teaching career in Warren Township Schools after graduating from Ball State University. She later taught as part of the Gifted and Talented/F.O.C.U.S. program for Noblesville Schools at Hinkle Creek Elementary and at Stony Creek Elementary. Teaching was not only her calling but was also a lifelong passion—as was learning, as evidenced by the fact she went on to earn her Master’s Degree in education as well. Right up until the end she delighted in trying new things and teaching others. She encouraged everyone to believe in themselves and all that education could allow them to achieve.
She enjoyed spending time with family—especially her grandchildren—who all think the world of their Grammy. She was also an avid quilter and crafter and was constantly working to create beautiful hand-crafted things to share with loved ones. She loved attending Second Saturday events at Quilt Quarters in Lebanon and showing off the beautiful things she’d made as well as connecting with other quilters. She also enjoyed spending time with the Sigma Kappa sisters she’d stayed connected to since college.
Sally was a member of St. Matthew’s parish in Indianapolis, however, since the pandemic, she’d also been a regular member of the online congregation at St. Christopher’s. She woke up each and every morning and thanked God for the new day he had blessed her with. Her legacy will live on in all the beautiful things she created, all the students she taught and inspired through the years, all the friends she cared for and enjoyed spending time with, and all the family members that she loved and nurtured in so many ways.
Sally will be laid to rest at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 2-4 PM at Feeney Hornak Keystone Mortuary. En lieu of flowers the family invites donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in her honor at https://www.lls.org/ways-to-give or to the Noblesville Schools Education Foundation at https://www.noblesvilleschoolseducationfoundation.org/donate/.
