Richard Rex Boyd was born March 23, 1930, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Rex C. Boyd and Lois Chainey Boyd. He was the brother of Carter and Robert Boyd. Richard went to Broad Ripple High School. He attended Hanover College before joining the United States Air Force. He returned to Hanover, completing a degree in psychology and was a member and officer of Lambda Chi Alpha.
Richard joined the Shaw Walker Company and started his career in Philadelphia. He met the love of his life, Corinne Rife Boyd and they married June 28, 1958. Later they returned to Indianapolis, and he was branch manager of the Indianapolis Shaw Walker Company. Richard was active in Kiwanis International, Boy Scouts, Speech and Hearing, the Shriners, Masons, and Children’s Bureau. He and Corinne always found a way to celebrate their love for music.
Richard has three daughters: Elizabeth Anderson (Michael Anderson), Allison Boyd (David Brumbaugh), and Tamara Dillon. He is survived by his six grandchildren and two great grandchildren (Abby and Michael Anderson; Reilly, Kathryn, and Megan Dillon; Sam Brumbaugh, Aiden Anderson, Mason Anderson).
In 2018, Richard returned to his beloved Indianapolis after living in The Villages, Florida.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023, at 4 p.m., at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208.
