Nécrologie de Peggy Lynne Ross
Peggy Lynne Ross, passed away March 28, 2022, after a 3 month battle with Covid. She was born on December 7, 1940, in Morristown, Indiana to parents, Mildred and Richard Heck. After graduating from Morristown High School, Peggy married Phil Ross. They were married over 61 years and were life-long residents of Franklin Township in Indianapolis, Indiana. Their marriage began in West Lafayette, Indiana when Phil was a Purdue University Engineering student. All three of their children also attended and graduated from Purdue. Peggy was the biggest Purdue fan of all. She became known as "Grandma Peggy" to many Boilermaker basketball players and their parents alike, as she provided them with Reese's Cups after every game. Several professional players remained in contact with her throughout their careers. Peggy had a heart of gold, and was a friend to anyone in need, including squirrels, bunnies, birds, and other backyard wildlife. She was especially fond of dogs and always carried a pocket full of Milk Bones as she walked the neighborhood. She was also very generous making donations to multiple charities. Peggy was a tireless worker, and worked various jobs, including "The Gathering" tea room in Wanamaker, which later moved to the Manheim Auction. She was most proud, however, of being the world's best Avon Lady, having served in that capacity for over 50 years. She will certainly be missed by all of her faithful customers. Peggy was loyal to General Motors, drove Chevrolet Camaros, supported President Trump, and had an occasional Bud Light. She would light up every room with her smile and effervescent personality. Her children and grandchildren were her top priority and her devotion to them showed in every aspect of her life. Family and friends will always remember how "Big Momma," and later "Mamma" to the grandchildren, cared for them and made an impact in their lives. Peggy's life was a life well lived, and we need many more like her in this world. Peggy is survived by her husband, Phil Ross; three children, Blair (Paula) Ross, Indianapolis, Annie (Steve) Seay, Port O'Connor, Texas, and Susan Ross, Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Chad, Casey, and Abbie; and one great-grandchild, Liam. The Celebration of Peggy's Life will be Sunday, April 24, 2022, from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Her Memorial Service will begin at 4:00 pm in the chapel at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 4901 Stop 11 Road, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46237. Feel free to wear Peggy’s favorite color, blue, or other happy colors as we celebrate her life. Memorial Contributions in Peggy's name can be made to one of her favorite charities, Guiding Eyes for the Blind, at www.guidingeyes.org.
