Marilyn Smith

M. Marilyn (Walker) Smith, age 94 of Mesa, AZ formerly of Indianapolis, passed away October 7, 2023. She was born on January 4, 1929 in Loogootee, Indiana to the late W. Austin Walker, Sr. and Agnes E. (Dooley) Walker. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in 1950. She was employed by the Indianapolis Public Schools and Indiana National Bank, retiring in 1993. Marilyn was a long time resident of Indianapolis. She moved to Mesa, AZ to be closer to her daughters and extended family. She was a long time parishioner of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and became a member of St. Luke Catholic Church in 1994. Memberships included Tri Kappa service sorority where she was past president, St. Augustine Home Guild (founding member)/Little Sisters of the Poor, and The Riviera Club. Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Janice (Dave) Ollis and Carolyn (Tom) Keller; grandchildren, Patrick (Angie) Keller, David (Haley) Keller, Deanna (Steve) Frey, Michael (Sabrina) Keller, Katherine Ollis, Emily (Jason) Mlynek; six great grandchildren; brother, Jerome (Laurinda) Walker; sisters, Rachel Doyle and Eloise McCarty; and an abundance of loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Wm. Smith; brothers, W. Austin Walker, Jr. and Fintan G. Walker; and sister, Patricia Walker. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from 5-8 PM at Leppert Mortuary- Nora Chapel, 740 E. 86th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 11:30 AM at St. Luke Catholic Church, 7575 Holliday Drive East, Indianapolis, Indiana. Interment to follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
