Linda Kay Shearer, age 67, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2018. Linda was born December 21, 1950 in Indianapolis, Indiana, daughter of Robert and Sally Owens. Linda married the love of her life, James Shearer on June 29th, 1992. Linda served as custodian for 28 years in various Indianapolis Public Schools and retired from that position and was a member of the VFW Post 98-Auxiliary for 15 years and the American Legion Post 64 for 30 years. Linda was an avid motorcyclist for over 25 years and rode the tires off her Harley Davidson FLH!! She will be horribly missed by husband James, sons Samuel Robert Hammons and David Mark Hammons, mother Sally Owens, sisters Sharon Diane Powell, Vickie LaVerne Blair, LaDonna Gail Roberts, brothers Robert Elisha Owens II, Michael DeWayne Owens, and John Ellsworth Owens; Grandchildren Nicholas Robert Hammons, Miranda Marlene Hammons and David Cole Hammons, and great-grandchildren Riley Hammons, Regean Hammons and (soon-to-be) Baby Hammons. Linda was preceded in death by her father Robert Owens,brother Timothy Mark Owens, and step father Robert Harris. A visitation for Linda will be held Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Family Funeral Care, 5791 Rockville Rd in Indianapolis with a funeral service at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, Linda's family respectfully asks and gratefully appreciate any donations in her name be given to the American Cancer Society.
