Kenneth Reid, Sr. was born on February 16, 1935, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Agnew and Estelle Reid. While growing up, he attended Indianapolis Public Schools. After his formal education, he was deployed for military duty and served in the United States Army.
On November 24, 1957, Kenneth married Nell Shobe. During their 63-year marriage, they were blessed with two wonderful children, Kenneth Jr., and Angela. Kenneth was a gentle and quiet spirit and had an immense love for his family.
At an early age, Kenneth was baptized in Jesus’ name and received the Holy Spirit. His obedience to God led him to renew his parishioner membership at Christ Temple where he remained faithful in serving the Lord.
He valued putting God first in everything he did. After 33 years of employment at National Starch & Chemical Co, Kenneth retired. Post retirement, he remained active and chose to work several jobs and volunteer in the community. He always expressed the importance of education, hard work, honesty, and a respect for leadership.
Kenneth enjoyed watching sports, especially football and appreciated those special moments when he attended live sports with family. He traveled extensively with his family throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada. He took pleasure in outdoor activities, including working in his garden and yard.
Kenneth departed his earthly life on February 16, 2022. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Agnew, and Estelle, two brothers, Ronald, and Leslie, and four sisters, Joyce, Norma, Carolyn, and Loretta.
He will be missed by his beloved wife, Nell Reid, two children, Kenneth Reid Jr. (Yvonne) and Angela Lee, one grandson, Quincy Aaron Reid, one brother, Phillip Reid, three sisters, Anita M.
