74, of Pittsboro, IN, passed away October 14, 2018. Joseph was born December 24, 1943 the only child of John R. and Fairie L. Wallace. He graduated from Speedway High School before attending and graduating from General Motors Institute. He went to work at Allison Transmission for 30 years as an operations manager, retiring in 1992. Joseph, after retirement, co-owned Next Day Signs with his ex-wife. Joseph had so many chapters and interests in his life let me list them for you:
All that work time dedicated to Indianapolis Operations.
Bulk of his career was in Manufacturing
He had many interests/loves:
Hunting
Gun collecting (a Healthy collection of them)
Traveling the US West
Vacationing: Cancun and Playa del Carmen, Mexico (over 75 jaunts: we had time shares there)
Intense love of animals....especially dogs
Supporting Allison-sponsored events...even through retirement
Avid Harley Davidson enthusiast
Indy race car events
Generous donor to multiple animal, veteran, and health organizations
Antelope Club early in his career....many hunting trips!
Toys...when he bought things, he bought quality.
Mr. Joseph Wallace is evidence that whatever the cover of the book looks like, the inner chapters are truly what made the man! Each chapter embraced a unique aspect of life! Joe was a fun-loving, life-of-the-party kinda’ guy. He could accomplish anything! He was a sportsman, fisherman, business man, animal lover (especially dogs), investor, teacher, mentor, motorcyclist, risk-taker, and community supporter.
People he met ALWAYS remembered him —- his sense of humor (many times a bit raunchy) left an imprint on everyone he encountered. His small stature almost seemed 7 feet tall when his confidence surged!
Above all he was a great friend...he will will always be remembered for his caring heart. Although his immediate family is no longer on earth —- he still had family: the Schneider family who embraced him with open arms and a host of MANY friends.
We all learned from Joe and we all want to remember the man he was.
Memorial service will be held Sunday, Oct. 21, at 4:00 pm in Family Funeral Care with a gathering from 2:00 pm until time of service. Condolences and a full obituary may be viewed at www.familyfuneralcareindy.com
