John was born on September 24, 1979, in Indianapolis, IN to John and Lacinda Berry. He was the oldest of five children. He was educated in the Wayne Township school system and was a proud graduate of Ben Davis High School, class of 1998. As a high schooler, he found a love for wrestling and became a top wrestler, where he placed runner-up in the 1998 Indiana State Finals. He then went on to place third in the 1998 IHSAA National Tournament. He earned his Associate’s Degree from Lincoln College in Lincoln, IL after receiving a wrestling scholarship from Ben Davis.
He attended the University of Indianapolis to continue his studies and wrestling career. During that time, he met the love of life, his wife Angela. John and Angela were married on July 1, 2006, at St. John Lutheran Church. They had three beautiful daughters together – Catherine, Victoria, and Madeleine.
John was an active member of his community. He owned and operated KT’s Pub in Plainfield, Westside Pub in west Indianapolis, and Carl’s Bakery in Avon, IN. John was passionate about helping and taking care of others. He held his AA club dear to his heart and did his best to give back and spread support to others. He loved cheering on his favorite sports’ teams, especially the Michigan Wolverines and the Indianapolis Colts. John’s love for wrestling never ceased. His involvement with his wrestling community has continued to this day. During the summer, you would find him driving his boat and spending time with his family at the lake. His favorite role was being a father and raising his precious daughters. John was loved by everyone he knew, and he never met a stranger. John will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were touched by his life.
John is survived by his parents, John and Lacinda; his wife Angela; his 3 daughters: Catherine, Madeleine, and Victoria; his siblings Amanda (Mark) Daniel, Daniel Berry, Matthew (Jessica) Berry; his grandmother Betty Berry; and a multitude of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother David and his grandfather John Henry Berry Sr.
Loved ones may gather for a visitation at Indianapolis Baptist Temple at 4002 E Southport Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46237 on Friday, February 2, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at his final resting place, St. John Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Westside Wayout Club. Services have been entrusted to Little & Sons Funeral Home – Indianapolis.
