As you adjust to soul ache & regain your equilibrium distorted because of the void in your life ushered by passing of your Patriarch I yield you solace Uncle James & Bennie become brothers 50 yrs ago.  Magnetism was surely his Christian walk love of family & amazing gift of Joy exhibited by his heartfelt laugh!  He bestowed upon us place within inner circle of Roberts Family  Evidenced by shared holidays vacations date nites restaurants movies sport events picnics sleepovers weddings graduations funerals family reunions class reunions 1000’s supping gatherings along with all our sagacious conversations!  Undeniably The Stepps bond with The Roberts Family is by Blood of Jesus & Love! The connection was set during time spent engaged in worship & servant work to GOD @ LBBC where Uncle James was Associate minister to Late Great Pastor Reeves & Pastor Ladd  He was concerned about Pastor Reeves as he fulfilled his call to GOD, took care of his family while working in a foundry  Uncle James initiated & devised plan that included monetary sacrifices above & beyond Tithe & offerings being 1st to donate towards making the plan viable solvent  Due to Uncle James selfless act LBBC was able to offer Pastor Reeves a retirement package enabling him to become full time Pastor Uncle James realized the importance of acclimating the membership’s foundational knowledge regarding Baptist Doctrine  Hence he created & developed materials for LBBC New Member’s class & taught the course for years  He proved to be an ardent preacher equipped with Power from on high.  One of his messages “Hold the Banner High” 5/13/1992 Ps 20:5-9 emphasized setting up banners in the name of God were used to signify Allegiance Strength Victory  I commend you to hold fast to your heritage sense of humor & the grace of receiving happiness from it as GOD triumphantly engulfs you with assurance of HIS Allegiance & Strength which enables you to showcase Victory along your grieving process! I enjoyed every time I visited All friends, I left with my soul fed and a renewed spirit. 
I’m grateful for every sermon I heard and the praise that we lifted.  

May God walk with you on this journey and provide you all with peace and acceptance of his will.

Deepest sympathy from our family to your family. We had the pleasure of hearing and meeting Pastor Roberts last year while visiting our cousins in Indianapolis. We felt his heart for God as well as his love for people so much that,  we visited again earlier this year. We will keep the Roberts’s family and church family in our prayers.
