Helen Beatrice Sellers Matthews

Helen (Sellers) Matthews went to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 25, 2012. She was 88. Helen was born February 18th, 1923 in Daviess County, Indiana to Eugenia and Oscar Sellers. She married Joseph L. Matthews on August 16, 1941 who preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons Lou (Carol) Matthews and William (Denise) Matthews both of Carmel and two daughters, Mary (Del) Doyle of Louisville, KY and Janet (Jim) Hook of Crawfordsville, IN. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was a member of both Our Lady of Lourdes Parish and Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Helen worked at P.R.Mallory and & Co. and Allisons during WWII as an airplane engine inspector. She was a Eucharistic minister and volunteer for various organizations. Visitation will be Friday, January 27 from 6 – 8:30 pm at St. Paul Hermitage and Saturday, January 28 from 9:30 – 10:30 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at St. Paul Hermitage, 501 N. 17th Street, Beech Grove, Indiana. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials in Helen’s name may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society at 3001 East 30th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46218.
