Elizabeth "Libby" A. Bales of Indianapolis, born June 13, 1949 in Fort Campbell, KY, passed away on March 26, 2023 peacefully in her sleep. Libby married the love of her life John on January 17, 1976. Libby was a lifelong nurse with Community Health Network. Even after retirement she continued to teach classes and volunteer with the hospital. Libby, along with John, was an avid motorcycle lover and rider. As a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association Libby spent an abundance of time riding motorcycles and traveling the country along side her husband John. Libby spent many of hours throughout her life devoted to her passion of quilting. She won many blue ribbons for her handmade quilts. Libby spent countless hours with the Heart in Hand Quilt Guild. Libby spent her weeks having lunch with her friends, going to book club at The Social of Greenwood or at Bible Study. Libby was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. You could always here her on the phone gabbing with her sisters about anything, everything and nothing all at the same time. Libby enjoyed tea quite a bit and took pride in her English heritage. Libby enjoyed sharing that passion having tea parties with her great grandson every chance she got. Libby was preceded in death by her husband John Bales, parents Margaret Younger Cabell and John Walker Cabell, her mother and father-in-law, John and Novella Bales, Peter & Karen Cabell, Steve Walters and Jonathan McLerran. Libby is survived by daughters Amanda and Susan Strickland (Richard), sons Jeff (Trish) and David, grandchildren Tiffany, Robert, Gavin, Jakob, Alek, Zack, Kassie, Katlin, and his great grandson Kohen. Libby is also survived by sisters Pamela (Steve), Christina, Sandy and brothers Mike (Kate), Rick (Laura), Kevin (Lisa) and Ian, along with many nieces and nephews. Services for Libby will be held at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 4901 E Stop 11 Rd, Indianapolis. Visitation will be held 11:00am-1:00pm Wednesday, April 5 with the service to immediately follow. Burial will be at Washington Park East in Indianapolis immediately following the funeral service.
