Donna Yvette Wheat

Donna Y. Wheat was born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky to G.W. Fleming and Amanda Fleming. She is the oldest of three children, Nikota Fleming and brother G.W. Jr. who preceded her in death. The family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1961. Donna was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and later Phillips Temple CME. Donna attended Shortridge High School in Indianapolis, Indiana where she participated in many sports and activities including track and field. Donna was known to be the fastest in the state. She graduated in 1977. Donna was employed with Ford Motor Company for 35 years. She worked in Indianapolis for 25 years. While at Ford she met Hubert Wheat Jr. and later united in holy matrimony on July 10th 1981. They were blessed with three children: Hubert Wheat III, Joshua Wheat, and Amanda Wheat. She got her cosmetology license in 1984. She would do hairstyles and tweeze eyebrows for friends around the neighborhood. She loved to work and met many friends over the years. When she moved to Louisville to continue work for another 10 years with Ford, she was very outgoing. She would go to concerts, bowling, traveled out of the country and even made time to drive home weekly to see her family. Donna retired from Ford Motor Company after 35 years of service in February 2020. Donna was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved to dance anywhere she heard music, she enjoyed cooking with and for her family, and doing anything to make the grandkids smile. Donna Wheat departed her life on Thursday, December 9th, 2021 at 5:00am at the age of 62 years, 7 months, and 9 days. Her love and support will truly be missed. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her two sons: Hubert L Wheat III and Joshua G. Wheat (Tiyana), her daughter Amanda Wheat, her sister Nikota M. Jones. She has three grandsons: Joshua G. Wheat Jr., Jackson G. Wheat, and Michael Howard Jr., and two granddaughters: Jaida G. Wheat and Ezra L. Howard. She is also joined today by a host of nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends to grieve the loss of their loved one, Donna. A visitation for DONNA will be held Saturday, December 18, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 PM.
