Donald James White

Don was a graduate of Zionsville High School (1963) and Indiana University (1979). He retired from Roche Diagnostics in 2011.

Music was always a big part of Don’s life. He and his sister, Sharon, started singing at church at a very young age. After high school, he played in a rock and roll band (The Bounders) for 3 years. In 1994 he once again started singing Christian music and was part of the “Just Us” band for several years. In 2001 his mom asked him to sing at Zionsville Meadows where she was living following her stroke. Don found a new calling and entertained at senior living facilities several days a week. He loved those in his audience and was a constant entertainer who held firm to the belief that you “never let the truth get in the way of a good story”.

Don loved his neighbors in Fall Creek Place and made it a point to always know what was going on and knew the names of folks in the neighborhood including delivery people and all the kids walking to The Oaks. He was tagged with the moniker “Mayor of Broadway Street”.

Don was preceded in death by infant twin brothers, his parents, his brother, Phillip, his brother-in-law, John Delong and his nephew, Bill White. He is survived by his wife, Susan, sons, Daniel White and Dustin White, his daughters, Leslie (Nick) Kell and Ashley (Todd Glass) Fagersten, and grandsons, Keegan Alford, Owen Kell, Evan Kell and Beckham Glass. He is also survived by his sister, Sharon Delong and several nieces and nephews.

Don’s Celebration of Life will be held at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church 418 E. 34th Street Indianapolis, IN on Saturday, October 7th at 1:00 pm. There will be no visitation. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Don’s name to Tabernacle Presbyterian Church. Don was a member at Tab for over 7 years and will be fondly remembered for the music he shared and his kind and joyful spirit.
