Ms. Deborah Ann Scott, the daughter of the late William A. Scott, Sr. and Lorene Hughes Scott, was born December 31st, 1951 in Indianapolis, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two nieces, Jacqueline S. Scott and Katrina Scott; and one nephew, William A. Scott, III.
Deborah attended James E. Roberts School for Handicapped Children for her early education. Simultaneously, she participated in programs at Crossroads Rehabilitation Center, where she created hook rugs and began learning embroidery. In these programs she also gained greater independence and improved physical mobility. She also attended Arsenal Technical High School.
At eighteen Deborah started working at Noble, an organization focused on expanding opportunities for people with disabilities. Deborah enjoyed working with Noble, and worked there about twenty-four years.
At an early age Deborah was baptized and attended Corinthian Baptist Church. She enjoyed listening to gospel music, and hearing the bible read. She believed in the Lord.
She enjoyed embroidery, jewelry making, and writing. She was a social butterfly who enjoyed people and never met a stranger. She was always ready to visit with family and friends and loved family gatherings. Deborah was determined and strong minded and always knew what she wanted to do. She was an independent free spirit that could hold her own.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sisters, Sandra (Bruce) Seagraves, Karen Scott, Alta Cole and Bonita Scott; brothers, William R. (Donna) Scott of San Diego, CA, Mark (Joyce) Scott of Germany, William A. (Odessa) Scott, II and Frederick Scott; two aunts, Beatrice Graham Lewis and Delores (Robert) Gregory and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be 10 to Noon on Saturday, July 18th, 2020 at Crown Hill Memorial Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at Noon on Saturday, July 18th, 2020 with the Reverend Gerald Butler of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by Crown Hill Funeral Home.
