Christine K. Wade was born in Greenwood, Mississippi to Father Willie and Mary Bustic-Kitchell on January 5, 1928. She attended and graduated school in Greenwood, Mississippi. She joined John W. Wade in holy matrimony on June 5, 1948 in Greenwood, Mississippi. She worked as a medical assistant for Central State hospital, for many years and she also worked in hospitality at Lane Bryant where she retired. After retirement she continued to work as a senior companion for many families in need. Christine confessed her hope and faith in Christ Jesus at an early age. She attended and became a member at Travelers Rest Baptist Church in Greenwood, Mississippi. After arriving in Indianapolis, she joined Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and then years later she joined Bethesda Baptist church, where Rev. G.M. Mims was pastor. Then lastly Christine joined Abyssinian Missionary Baptist Church, where Rev Carson was pastor and present pastor, Rev. Caver. Christine was the President of the nurse’s guild and missionary board. Christine was a faithful member and always helped wherever needed. Christine’s priority was to make sure that family was introduce to Christ, just as she was as a child. She made it her responsibility to pick up all the grandkids for church, as well as making sure they were all active in church.
Christine was an awesome cook and she made her food with love. She cooked for any and everybody without hesitation. If you were hungry; she fed you. If she was not cooking, you found her at her favorite restaurant, Rallys, snacking with all her grandkids. Not only did she feed our stomachs, but she also fed our souls with a word of God. Christine knew she was blessed, so she made it her job to bless others.
Christine K. Wade is preceded in death by her sisters, Elizabeth, Florence Hatchet, Edna Black, Marie Bonds, Alice Henderson and brothers Q.B. Kitchell and Percy Kitchell. Also preceded in death by husband John W. Wade and daughter Johnetta Lynn Dankarami.
Christine K. Wade is survived by daughters Edna Diane Gibson(Calvin Gibson) and Brenda L. Andrews, son-in-law Mahamadou Dankarami. Also leaves to cherish her memory Laura Mae Powell, a niece who was raised as her sister. She has 31 grand and great grand children and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for the viewing will be held at 11am and service at 1:00pm on Saturday January 2, 2020, at Crown Hill Cemetery with Pastor Caver from Abyssinian Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Crown Hill. Arrangements are by Crown Hill.
