Charles Webster Mabry was born January 28, 1936 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky the first son of Will Hayes Mabry and Sarah Rachel Kingins Mabry, the third of four children.
Both parents and two older sisters, Eva Christine and Clara Ann preceded him in death. Charles was baptized as an infant at Freeman Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
In 1945, Charles relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana with his family.
Charles received his early education in the Indianapolis Public School System and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1953. He proudly served in the United States Navy and later furthered his education by earning his Bachelor’s degree from Manchester College and his Master’s degree from Indiana University.
He was later employed by the Marion County Welfare Department and went on to serve as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the Department of Veterans Affairs at the Indianapolis VA Medical Center.
After his retirement from the VA, Charles worked a number of years for the Indianapolis Public Library.
He was united in marriage to Marilyn Harris of Huntsville, Alabama in 1966. A son, Mark Wesley was born in 1971. He later married Annie Ewing of Jackson, Tennessee.
Charles was led to and baptized in the Capitol Avenue Seventh Day Adventist Church. He faithfully served in the Treasury and Deacon Ministries. His quiet demeanor and integrity made a difference and he will be remembered as a good and decent man.
Memories are cherished by his son Mark; brother, Thomas (Thyra); five nieces, Yvonne Butler, Deborah Martin, Linda Collins (LeBaron) all of Detroit, Michigan, LeChelle Mabry, Indianapolis, Indiana and Nicole Mabry, Lithonia, Georgia; one nephew, William Butler, Jr., Detroit, Michigan; 12 great nieces and nephews; 5 great great nieces and nephews; former wife and friend, Annie Mabry and host of relatives and friends.
Interment for Mr. Charles Webster Mabry, will be held, 12:00 pm, Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Washington Park North, 2702 Kessler Blvd, Indianapolis, Indiana.
