Brian David Murphy, 52, of Indianapolis, Indiana died peacefully Wednesday, November 1, 2023 on All Saint’s Day in his home. He was taken by an aggressive brain cancer. A memorial service will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 7200 Sarto Drive, Indianapolis on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 10:45 AM. There will be a celebration of life at Northside Events and Social Club from 6-11 PM that evening. Brian was born July 13, 1971 in Valparaiso, Indiana to Terrence and Mary Judith (Judy) Murphy. He married Tracy Eltzroth on June 30, 1998 and again in the church January 8, 1999. They shared a beautiful 25 years of marriage and were a remarkable example of selfless love. Brian graduated from Purdue University, received his master’s degree from the University of Iowa, and started his career as an athletic trainer. He worked in various medical positions throughout his career, until finding his most recent position with Indiana Donor Network. During his time with Indiana Donor Network, he found particular fulfillment in his work, where he assisted with lifesaving organ retrieval surgeries. This inspired his final act of love and generosity, and he was able to fulfill his wish of becoming a donor himself. Brian (Murph) lived life on his terms, prioritizing family and friends. He aspired for simplicity and valued quality time. There were few things he loved more than sitting on his back porch, whiskey in hand, dogs at his feet, quietly enjoying the serenity of nature with his wife. Tracy’s love of travel allowed him to see the world, and they shared countless adventures together. Brian’s commitment to fatherhood was something truly special. He was quietly, yet immensely, proud of Emma and Liam. He was patient, protective, fiercely funny, and constant. Additionally, Brian showed up as a mentor, cheerleader, confirmation sponsor, and friend to so many of his nieces and nephews, friends of his children, children of his friends, and more. His ability to make so many, particularly kids and teens, feel heard, supported, and valued, was something to strive for. Surviving are his wife, Tracy, his children Emma and Liam, his mother Judy Murphy of Michigan City, Indiana; his brother, Kevin (Connie) Murphy of Valparaiso, Indiana, his sister Maureen (Roger) Lopp of Dillon, Colorado; his sister Nora (Bret) Schmutte of Noblesville, Indiana; his brother Dan Murphy of Michigan City, Indiana; his mother in-law Diane Eltzroth of Indianapolis, Indiana; his sister in-law Katie (Brad) Horton of Indianapolis, Indiana; his brother in-law Derek (Kim) Eltzroth of Aurora, Colorado, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and cousins across the country, as well as his beloved dogs, Auggie and Koda. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Indiana Donor Network at Foundation - Indiana Donor Network, please select “Memorial Gift” and enter Brian’s name.
