Billy Ray Lomax, Sr. age 82, of Indianapolis, passed away on November 4, 2022, in Avon. He was born in Cabin Creek, West Virginia to James and Bonnie (Boling) Lomax on May 13, 1940. He went to school in East Bank, West Virginia and graduated from Victorville High School in California. He joined the United States Air Force and served four years. He married Thelma Francis Clark on June 4, 1959, in Victorville, CA. He worked in the transportation industry as a trucking manager and retired from McLean Trucking. He attended Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and was active in the Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Thelma, and his siblings, Jerry, James, Doug and Ann.
He leaves behind Terri Miller (Gary), daughter; Billy Lomax Jr. (Jennifer), son; Sue Kirk (Larry), sister; grandchildren Amy Harnish (Craig), Angela Orta (Antonio), Jeremy Lomax, Victoria Sandoval (Joey), and Justin Lomax (Hannah); great-grandchildren Anthony, Abigail, Seeley, Clark, and Bristol.
Visitation, funeral service and burial will all be held on November 10, 2022, at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery in Indianapolis. Visitation will be 11:00 am-1:00 pm. Service will be at 1:00 pm. Pastor Dave Buckner from Chapel Hill United Methodist Church will officiate.
