ZIGMOND (ZIGGY) NEMETH - On Thursday, November 28, 2013, Zigmond (Ziggy) Nemeth, Indian Head, SK formerly of Lestock, SK, passed away peacefully following a short stay in the Golden Prairie Nursing Home, Indian Head at the age of 86 years. Ziggy is survived by his daughter Lori (Wayne) Holzapfel of Indian Head; children Shari Petty (Blake Pollock), Danny Petty and Kevin Petty (Kathryn Palmer). His son Jim (Kelly) Nemeth of Lestock; children Cory (Tanya) Nemeth, Danica and Lochlin, Robby (Ashley) Nemeth, Rory, Carter and Conner and Michael Nemeth (Kaylee Krieger) and Blair, one brother, George (Mona) Nemeth, Winnipeg and three sisters-in-law: Anne Crommer, Gladys and Lori Nemeth and numerous nieces and nephews. Ziggy was predeceased by his wife Ethel on December 30, 2012, his son-in-law George Petty, his mother Anne Nemeth, father and step mother Zigmond and Mary Nemeth, sister Peggy Buckland, brothers: Jim Crommer, Steve, Vendel, Mike and Henry Nemeth & nephew Roger Nemeth. Dad attended school in the Arpad District but left after completing Grade 8 to help on the family farm where he stayed until the age of 21. He decided it was time to leave the farm after many years of hard work to earn money in order to purchase his own farm. He ventured to Taber, Alberta to work on a sugar beet farm. Then, travelled to Ontario & worked in the bush camps at Dryden. He returned to the Lestock area & purchased a half section of land in 1951. Zigmond married Ethel Macza, the true love of his life on November 6, 1951 where they remained on their farm until his retirement. Dad’s greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren & the many friends he made throughout his life. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, Indian Head, SK on Monday, December 2, 2013 at 11:00am by the Rev. George Thattuparampil. Interment in Indian Head Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Tubman Funeral Home 1005 Boyle Street Indian Head Sunday evening at 7:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Indian Head Hospital Patio Fund, Box 695, Indian Head, SK. S0G 2K0 as tokens of remembrance.
