Shirley Ann Morris, 83, of Independence, MO., passed away on November 7, 2022. She was born September 4, 1939, in St. Joseph, MO., to Leonard Frank Pryor and Dorothy Mae (Slayden) Pryor. The youngest of 4 children.
Shirley was a member of the Bible Fellowship Center in Independence. She was a teacher for 30 years at Victory Mountain Christian School where she taught grades 1-12 and multiple subjects. In her early years she was a foundry worker at National Aluminum Brass where she was over quality control. She loved to dance and won many dancing competitions in her younger years, loved her taco burgers from Taco Via. She worked with youth at her church and taught the teen Sunday school class for many years, and was over the prayer call list at her church. Her favorite scripture was Isaih 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Her faith in the Lord and reflecting his love to her family and others is what was most important to her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings; Gene Slayden, Leonard Jr. Pryor, and Lila Lee Pryor. She is survived by her busband; Michael R. Morris, children; Donna McCloud Butcher (Jim), Vickie McCloud Hosley (Bob) and Kelly McCloud Wallander (Randy). Step children, Sherrie McCloud Kitchens, Michael Morris and Shawn Morris. 9 grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 18 step great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and 10 step great-great grandchildren.
She will be missed by all that knew her.
A service for Shirley will be held on November 26th at 11:00am at her place of worship, Bible Fellowship Center, 2502 N. Liberty Independence, MO.
