Margie Evelyn (Cassy) Francis of Independence, Missouri passed away at her home to be with her Lord and Saviour peacefully on Saturday morning, January 4, 2025, just two days shy of her 94th birthday. On June 6, 1951, she married Uhlan Francis in Waynesville, Missouri. They were married for 66 ½ years and are now rejoicing together in Heaven.
Margie was born on January 6, 1931, in Rogersville, Missouri to the parents of Charley and Roxie (Griffin) Cassy. Margie was a 1949 graduate of Republic High School in Republic, Missouri. On June 9, 1946, Margie and Uhlan had their first date and 5 years later were married on June 6, 1951. 2 years later in 1953, they welcomed their first daughter, Patricia Francis (Bernard) and then in 1955, their son Randall Francis.
In the early Spring of 1946 at the age of 15, she was saved at the Wilson Creek Baptist Church in Battlefield, Missouri. A few months later, she was baptized in the Finley River near Springfield, MO. Margie was a pillar of strength and a source of endless wisdom for her family with her love for Jesus Christ. Margie found great joy and purpose serving others. In her younger years, she was a secretary of the primary and junior church and helped in the church nursey. She continued to help and serve through her years wherever she was needed. Her love for serving never wavered. Her church meant a lot to her. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Independence, Missouri for many years. She loved Pastor Tharp and her church family very much. They meant the world to her.
She had a passion for cooking, reading, sewing and traveling. She and her husband Uhlan traveled to 35 states and 5 islands. Camping trips with their grandchildren were precious memories for them.
Margie was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a cherished Grandmother, Great-grandmother and Great-great grandmother. She dedicated her life to her family, always putting their needs before her own. Her home was a place of comfort and joy, where card and board games were played, sleepovers with her grandchildren and her yummy cheesecake that was gone in seconds. Countless memories were made and will be cherished forever.
Margie is survived by her devoted and loving daughter, Patty Bernard: caring and loving daughter-in-law, Donna Francis; Grandsons, Mike (Jenni) Bernard, Rob (Dawn)Francis, Matt (Ashlee) Bernard, Joe (Kim) Francis; Granddaughter, Megan (T.J.) Guadagnano. Her 14 great grandchildren, Brittany (Alex) Bloomquist, Noah (Carly) Bernard, Damon Popplewell, Shianne Francis, Isaac (Erin) Bernard, Rilley Francis, Elijah Bernard, Naomi Bernard, Alyssa Guadagnano, Hayden Bernard, Holly Bernard, Gavin Guadagnano, Landon Bernard and Lainee Bernard. Her 6 great-great grandchildren, Cassidy, Mason, Jakklyn, LeAnn, Griffyn and Silas. Her precious sisters, Wilma Cline and Joann Perkins. Plus, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Uhlan Francis; her dear son, Randy Francis; her parents, Charley and Roxie (Griffin) Cassy; 3 brothers, Herschel, Bob and Billy Jr; 2 sisters, Betty Jane and Virginia.
A visitation to celebrate Margie Francis’ life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 12:00 PM-1:00 PM at New Hope Baptist Church, 18000 Lexington Rd #1119, Independence, Missouri 64058. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM. Burial Service will occur at New Salem Cemetery, 1823 N Blue Mills Rd, Independence, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to New Hope Baptist Church’s Bible Ministry in her honor.
We will forever hold Margie in our hearts and remember her for the incredible person she was. We love her “Great Big.”
