She was the youngest of 3 daughters born December 14, 1944 to Joseph and Alta Masoner. She graduated in 1962 from William Chrisman High School in Independence, MO. She was a longtime resident of Independence.
She was a topnotch bartender for many well known establishments for almost 20 yrs. She was proud to have worked at Quality Inn & Lounge, Crows Nest Lounge, Howard Johnson, Eddy’s Restaurant & Lounge and The Halftime Lounge. After her bartending days, she started cooking in which she put her heart into everything she cooked. Halftime Lounge, The Groves, Truman Neurological Center and the Hope House. She loved her job and the enjoyment of residents praising her hard work.
Linda was a loyal Chiefs fan. She was able to enjoy watching her favorite team beat the Patriots on Dec. 8, 2019. She had many things she was known for; her whistle, her laugh and her smile.
She also loved making things to give to the ones she loved. Fudge made every Christmas, which she would send all over the U.S. Once even to Korea for her son and his platoon. She loved making decorative plates and Hilly Bill decorations as well as all types of jewelry with her many greats when they visited. She was most known for her crocheting. She could make anything; doilies, ponchos, dresses, hats, scarfs and many blankets. She called it her “therapy.” She always had something she was working on. She could crochet with her eyes closed.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents; Joseph and Alta Masoner, her brother-in-law; Fredrick Garrison and her long time boyfriend; James McCoy.
Her survivors include: Sisters; Beverly Shackleford (Ron) of Sun City Center, Florida, and Marilyn Jones (Corky) of Aransas Pass, Texas. Son, Gary Keith Dawson (Pam) of Blue Springs, Missouri, and daughter; Michelle Denise O Bryan, of Independence, Missouri. Grands; Anthony, Brandon, Joseph, Jessica, Victoria, Trace, Chase and Michael. Great grands; Jayden, Sophia, Alexis, Alexander, Cole, Natalie, Alexis, Carter, Payten, Zander, Colby, Jace, Marlie, Axl, Ariana, Matthew Jr., Everett, Isabella, Madison, Josephine, Roman, Kayden and Logan. Plus, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends all over.
