Betty Ann Underwood, formerly known as Majersky, affectionately known as “Tweety Bird, GG, Grams, Grandma M&M, and Honey”, was born on August 5, 1931 to George and Ella Majersky in Beaver County, Oklahoma. God called her home on September 9, 2021 as she peacefully slept.
Betty grew up in a small, humble home filled with love. Her father’s work brought the family to Kansas City where, through mutual friends in school, she met the love of her life. Donald and Betty wed on October 14, 1950 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Independence, Missouri. Don left to serve in the Korean War shortly after. When Don returned from war Betty worked at Southeast State Bank, where she remained for several years while she put Don through pharmacy school and began expanding their family. Don received his Pharmaceutical license in February of 1959. In April of 1959, Betty left her position at the bank and turned her focus to being a stay at home mother. Together they built a beautiful life rooted in faith and hard work. Don and Betty were married for more than 70 years and raised five beautiful daughters; Gail, Barbara, Linda, Patricia, and Denise. Their family further expanded with seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was a best friend to all of her daughters and a true Matriarch to the family.
Betty dedicated her life to god, family, and friends. She enjoyed reading, doing ceramics, and traveling with her loved ones. Betty has touched countless lives with her kind heart and helping hands.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ella Majersky, and one sister, Faye Majersky Burroughs.
Betty is survived by her husband, Donald Lee Underwood, five daughters Gail (David) Porter, Barbara (Joe) Simon, Linda (Dale) Chapman, Patricia Baker, and Denise (Brett) Duncan; seven grandchildren, Corey Chapman, Spenser Simon, Seth Duncan, Chelsea Duncan-Wilkins, Colton Chapman, Samuel Baker, and Jameson Baker; and five great grandchildren, Haven Blankenship-Duncan, Willow Chapman, Liam Wilkins, Layton Wilkins, and Levy Wilkins.
