Anita Mildred Hudson, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2024, at the age of 84. She was born on February 2, 1940, in Stover, MO, and spent most of her life in Independence, MO.
She was born and raised in the family home her father built. She grew up working alongside her parents and siblings on their Grade A dairy farm. In high school she found her place playing the drums in the school band and competed on the volleyball team. She continued participating in volleyball leagues until her mid 30s.
Professionally, Anita made her mark as a computer programmer. She put herself through night school and landed a job with TWA and later Worldspan. She was among the first in her era, contributing to the field's early development. Her dedication and skills were highly regarded by her peers.
Anita was a woman of many passions and interests. She was an avid ballroom dancer and performed on dance cruises and international tours for fun. She also traveled the world having visited places such as China, Austria, Egypt, London, Paris, Norway, Greece, and Spain. Anita's love for dancing was only surpassed by her love for her family. Her boys were her pride and joy. The three of them would always find time for each other.
She also treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and their presence brought her immense joy.
Anita was known for her independent spirit, caring nature, and attention to detail. She had a remarkable memory and was a talented storyteller, always captivating those around her. Her dedication and happiness stayed with her always, and she exuded affection and pride for her family. Anita was always willing to lend a helping hand at a moment's notice.
Anita had a keen eye for collectibles and enjoyed buying and reselling jewelry, figurines, and other valuable items. Her independent spirit and friendly personality were evident to all who knew her, and she took great pride in sharing stories of her travels and experiences.
Beyond her personal and professional achievements, Anita was a woman of faith, embracing her Lutheran beliefs throughout her life. Her first communion was on April 11, 1954 and her memory verse was John 14:23. Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
Anita is survived by her children, Mark Hudson and Michael (Sarah) Hudson; her grandchildren, Tim Hudson, Macey Hudson, and Tessa Hudson; and her great-grandchildren, Phillip Infranca, Damian Infranca, Logan Infranca, Carrington Infranca, and Sky Infranca (Tony and Gina). She is also survived by her siblings, Glenda (Art) Brauer, Ken (Linda) Ornes, Mel (Jackie) Ornes, and Ralph (Darla) Ornes. Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Marcus and Goldie Ornes.
Anita, also known as Nana, will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her loving and caring nature, her unwavering dedication, her passion for dancing and traveling, and her pride in her family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those whose lives she touched.
