Keith Sterner

Keith was born in Eddyville, Iowa on November 6, 1919. He was the son of John and Florence White Sterner. In 1943, while stationed in Corpus Christi, TX Keith met and married Florence Huddleston. Together they had one child, Mary Beth. Florence passed away in 1998. Keith married Mary Humphreys in 2000. Keith grew up on a farm in Iowa. He worked as a carpenter and later as a maintenance worker for the State of Idaho. Keith served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, working on a mine sweeper in the Pacific theater. Keith always enjoyed camping and traveling and spending time with family. He was an avid outdoorsman, and went hunting or fishing whenever possible. He was an accomplished wood carver and enjoyed horses and gardening work, as well.

Keith is survived by his wife Mary of Idaho Falls, ID, his daughter Mary Beth (Duane) Doubt of Weiser, ID, four grandchildren, Michael, Andrew, Keith, and Baylor and two great grandchildren. Keith is also survived by Mary’s children, Shirley (Larry) Griffel, Sharon (Marlo) States, Ken (Patty) Maddox, Ron (Christine) Maddox, and Fred (Carolyn) Maddox.

Services were held at 11 am Tuesday April 17, 2012, at the 7th Day Adventist Church 800 Westhill, Idaho Falls. A viewing for family and friends was held Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday at the church.

Keith and Mary would like to thank Sherry, Mike, and all the other health care professionals from Advance Home Health and Hospice for their care of Keith over the last few years. Mary also wishes to thank her many friends and neighbors who supported her while caring for Keith, especially those at the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Keith, we will miss you. Rest in peace and God bless you.
