Floyd W. Hensley, 86, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015 at his home in Idaho Falls, with his family by his side. He was born on November 4, 1928 in St. Anthony, Idaho to William Hensley and Francis Matthews.
He grew up in the Old Beaver area north of Spencer, Idaho. He graduated from Spencer High School in 1946 where he excelled in basketball. After graduation he was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad until he enlisted in the Air Force in 1948. While stationed in Tucson he married Betty Ann Lyons in 1951 and had a son (Earl). They later divorced. He then moved to Dubois, Idaho where he married Gladys Hensley and they were married 46 years before she passed away in 2010.
He owned and operated Hensley’s Texaco in Dubois, before purchasing A-1 Automatic Transmission in Idaho Falls and then added FTE Transmission Parts House before retiring in 1992. He was an active member of the Masons, Shriners, Oddfellows, American Legion, and VFW. He enjoyed traveling to Arizona in the winters, camping on his property in Island Park, going for coffee with his friends, watching sports, spending time with family, four wheeling, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his son Earl (Debbie) of Blackfoot; granddaughters Jennifer (Orlando), Misty (Jim), Kristy (Scott) and Jennine; and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E. 17th Street in Idaho Falls, with Chaplin Marv Eld, officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Idaho Falls. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2015, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
