William Edward Murphy, Jr., 74, of Wellesley and Osterville, affectionately known as “Bill” or “Murph”, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, July 7th after a valiant battle with Interstitial Lung Disease.
Professionally, Bill was accomplished in his career in hospitality. He reinvented himself as an entrepreneur in the early 2000’s, building three successful Budget Blinds franchises.
Bill will be remembered for his fierce love of his family and friends, always sharing his passions with those closest to him. An avid sportsman, he especially loved to ski and golf and passed his love for sports along to his kids and grandkids. Bill had a contagious smile and a warmth about him that made anyone feel welcome. He will be remembered most for his love, loyalty and friendships.
Bill is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nancy (Curtin), his son William (Tripp) and daughter Shannon. He is also survived by his beloved daughter-in-law Leigh and his two grandchildren Teddy and Lou.
Born in Worcester MA to parents William and Margaret Murphy, Bill leaves his sisters Karen Birmingham and her late husband Jack and Paula Leader and her husband Phil, as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and extended family members.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Victory Church, 230 S. Main St., Centerville. Bill’s family will receive visitors for 1 hour prior to the mass.
