Peter R. Sweck

Peter was born September 13, 1934 and raised in Blackstone, MA. He was a proud veteran having served in the U.S. Air force from 1952 – 1955 during the Korean conflict. Peter spent most of his life as a self employed carpenter including the 15 years that he lived on Nantucket. Peter learned carpentry working with his father and passed that skill down to his sons, Greg and Shane.

In 1973, Peter received his Bachelor’s Degree from Johnson and Wales University. After this time, he relocated his family from Woonsocket, RI to Nantucket, finally settling in Centerville, MA.

Peter was a private pilot and loved flying, fishing and scratch tickets.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline, and by his children, Kelly Lefter of VT., Peter Sweck of Springfield, MA., Gregory Sweck of New York, Erin Schreiner of VT., and Shane Sweck of Centerville, MA. He is also survived by sisters, Angela Tellier and Sylvia Hoyle as well as his twin brother Paul Sweck of RI. In addition, Peter leaves 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 76 Wianno Ave Osterville at 10am on Saturday, December 11, 2010.
