Mary J. Cassidy (O’Toole), age 94, of Watertown, wife of the late Alfred F. Cassidy, died peacefully at home, on Monday, January 8, 2024. Born in Boston, she was a lifelong resident of Watertown, and Hyannis. She was a caring and loving homemaker, as well as a gifted artist, who excelled in pencil portraits and calligraphy. In addition to drawing, Mary enjoyed reading. She participated in the Watertown Citizens Police Academy where she road along with officers on patrol. She was also active in the Hyannis Senior Center and participated in line dancing classes and Tai Chi.
Mrs. Cassidy was the wife of the late Alfred F. Cassidy, Army veteran of WWII, Marine veteran of the Korean Conflict, who was a longtime employee of Northeast Airlines and Delta Airlines. In addition to her devoted husband Alfred, Mary was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law John and Dorothy Cassidy of Milton, Lorraine (Cassidy) and Harold Dahlin of Rutland, VT, Paul R. Cassidy of Watertown, Leo Cassidy of Watertown and Edith (Cassidy) and Albert Cardone of Waltham and was predeceased by grandchildren Brett, Meredith and Arthur Tucker of Billerica.
She is survived by her beloved sister-in-law Ruth (Cassidy) Hemenway of Scottsdale, AZ, her dear cousin-in-law Esther Ann (White) Bowen of Calimesa, CA, her children, Paul F. and Jean (Busa) Cassidy of Belmont, Carole Ann (Cassidy) and Stephen H. Danner of Hyannis, Donald and Laurie (Clifford) Cassidy of Berkley and Barbara (Cassidy) Tucker of Billerica. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, who she loved dearly: Jade Cassidy, Tara Cassidy, Robert Cassidy, Shane Tucker, Michael Tucker, Lauren (Cassidy) Hawk, Jennifer Cassidy, and Brian Cassidy; as well as two great-grandchildren: Khloe Tucker Warrino and Lucas Hawk.
The services will be private, and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the VNA Hospice of Cape Cod and the Disabled American Veterans Charity.
