Centerville – Marie O. Maddox, 89, died at the Mashpee Care & Rehab Center on January 9, 2011. Born and educated in Braintree, she went into retail sales following her graduation from high school. She met her husband Charles while working at the Bargain Center in Quincy. They married in 1951 and enjoyed 46 years together before his passing. She and her husband were best friends and considered inseparable. A devoted wife and mother, she raised six children while residing in Abington, MA. Always an active person, her passions in life included shopping, walking, bowling and exercising at health clubs. She was considered to be a great mother by her family, easygoing, good hearted and someone who could warm you with her smile.
She is survived by three sons, Charles R. Maddox of Big Pine Key, FL., Robert J. Maddox of Mashpee, David A. Maddox of Hyannis. Marie also leaves three daughters, Sharon A. Braddock of W. Hyannisport, Theresa M. Wayburn and husband Richard of Centerville and Donna L. Weare and husband Loren of Cotuit, three sisters, Gloria Bergeron and husband Richard of Naples, FL., Phyllis Dwyer of Centerville, and Eleanor Kirstead of Centerville. Additionally, she is survived by 13 grandchildren, 11 great grand children and 1 great great grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday January 14, 2011 at 10am at the Our Lady of Victory Church 230 S. Main St. Centerville 02632. Interment will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
