Barbara Jean Ryan

Yarmouthport - Barbara Jean Ryan, 92, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2023 at the Leonard Florence Nursing Home in Chelsea. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late F. Grainville and Beatrice Ames. She went on to become a bank teller in the Worcester area where she met her husband, John J. Ryan of North Brookfield.

Barbara and John went on to adopt a daughter, Andrea, and the family made Westborough their home while spending time on Cape Cod every summer. She never passed up a flea market or yard sale and eventually, inspired by her love for antiquing, she opened Mill House Antiques with her (late) sister, Sharon Rowe. Later, the dunes and smell of the ocean drew them back to Cape Cod, where, in retirement, she made her home for over 30yrs.

Barbara will be remembered as a loving mother with a witty sense of humor who cared deeply for those around her, including all her pets. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Andrea Ryan of West Roxbury and her brother Ronald Ames of Farmington, Maine. She will be laid to rest next to her husband John at Ancient Cemetery in Yarmouth Port, on February 10, 2024.
