Anthony F. Pelletier

Born in Cohoes, New York on October 27, 1933, Tony was the first born of eight children to the late Elzear and Florence Pelletier, French Canadian immigrants from the Gaspe peninsula. Tony received a scholarship to the Vincentian Institute in Albany NY graduating in 1952. Tony then went on to the Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute, while also in the ROTC program earned his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering in 1956, the same year he married Joan Anne Matthews. Tony and Joan began their family as Tony served as a lieutenant in the United States with tours on the USS Boston and in Europe, the Middle East and South America. Tony continued to serve in the Navy reserves until 1968.

Tony and Joan eventually moved to Winchester where they raised their family as Tony worked for the Trane Company as Marketing Manager for Engineering and Industrial Sales in the Boston and Wakefield offices. Although his position was demanding and required frequent travel abroad, Tony did go on to further his education at Northeastern University earning his MBA in Finance.

While successful in his engineering career, Tony’s true labor of love was acquiring and developing properties, including the Clippership Motor Lodge in Scituate, MA, the Clipper Ship Cove in South Yarmouth, motels along Route 132 in Hyannis as well as a new home development in Bedford, NH

Tony put his knowledge and skills to good use in serving his communities for several years as a member of the Winchester Planning Board and, after moving to Hyannis full time after retiring, as a member and President of the Hyannis Civic Association.

In 1990, Tony married Dolores “Dee” Enos. They traveled around the world for many years but most of all loved being at their home on Lewis Bay hosting friends and family. Tony loved sailing which he called his therapy and his exercise. He enjoyed tinkering and working on projects at their home, with Dee right beside him handing him his tools. He never ceased to amaze everyone with his ability to not only visualize the end result but also execute, using endless ways to apply his engineering skills wherever he could, making furniture and other structures ranging from elaborate arbors to chicken coops and even constructing his own dock and hoist.

Tony leaves behind his beloved wife, Dolores Pelletier, children Anne Pelletier of Klamath Falls, OR, Bruce Anthony Pelletier of Franconia, NH, Gail Snyder and husband Mark of Marstons Mills, MA, Richard Pelletier and wife Julie of South Yarmouth, MA as well as his grandchildren Emma, Molly, Noah and Gavin Pelletier and Matthew and Daniel Snyder. He is survived by his siblings Jeanne, her husband Bob, Doris, Ray, Lucille, her husband Tom, Yvette, her husband Jerry and Helene and her husband, Jim and by many nieces and nephews.

The family will be hosting a wake at Doane, Beal and Ames Funeral Home, 160 West Main Street, Hyannis MA on Friday, October 11 from 4 - 7 pm. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Victory Parish, 230 South Main Street, Centerville, MA on Saturday, October 12 at 11 am. Burial with military honors will immediately follow at Beechwood Cemetery in Centerville. Friends and family are invited to attend.
