Alan Douglas Randall died on Christmas Day, at the age of 95.
He was born in Hartford, Connecticut, May 31st, 1918. He graduated from Trinity College in 1941, and joined the Army at the start of World War II, where he served in North Africa and Italy until the war ended.
Alan graduated from Tufts University Medical School, and interned at Bridgeport Hospital in Connecticut. There he met and married nurse Gloria Harrison, to whom he was married for 62 years. He spent 2 years stationed in Pusan during the Korean War. He had a 3 year residency in anesthesia at Walter Reed Hospital and Letterman Army Hospital. After this residency, Alan worked as Professor of Anesthesia at Ohio State University and as Doctor of Anesthesia at Cape Cod Hospital. After 13 years in the army and 7 in the reserves, he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.
Alan was an avid sailor and a member of the Hyannis Yacht Club for 45 years.
He is survived by his wife Gloria, son Douglas, daughter Leslie and husband Scott, daughter Susan and husband Brian, daughter Julia and husband James. He was preceded in death by daughter Kathleen. He is also survived by grand children Elizabeth and Cole White; Hannah, Tucker and Heather Worrall; and Tim and Kevin Finley.
Alan was a moral and upright man who never wavered from a straight path. We will miss him.
