Inez Burleson

Inez Carter Burleson, one of eight children of Louretta and Edward Lee Carter, she was born on March 15, 1922 in Oakhurst, Texas where she grew up with her seven brothers. Inez loved school and soon after graduating from Oakhurst High School, began working for an insurance company in Houston. In August of 1946, Inez and Wallace Reid Burleson married at First Baptist Church in Huntsville, Texas and were married for 58 years when Wallace passed away January 9, 2005. Inez and Wallace lived on several ranches throughout east Texas until they settled on the Burleson farm in 1959. During those years, she faithfully served as the Local Election Precinct Chairman and worked as a secretary at Coldspring Elementary School. Inez was a life-long learner she loved reading, studying her Bible, spending time in her garden and cooking meals for family and friends. Travel was one of her favorite past-times and she visited national parks in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana and Arkansas whenever the opportunity arose. Inez was an active member of Center Hill Baptist Church in Oakhurst.

Inez passed away on April 3, 2013 at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wallace, son Douglas Reid Burleson and six of her seven brothers. Inez is survived by one brother, William Carter; four sons; George Lovell and wife Sonja of Harrisburg, VA; David Burleson and wife Melanie of Oakhurst; Carlos Burleson of Dodge; Wallace Reid Burleson, Jr. and wife Carol of Oakhurst; three grandchildren, Alanna Bryan and Lael Lovell of College Station, Texas and Marshall Burleson of Huntsville; also survive are six great grandchildren; Skylar, Joel, Mathew and Zeke Bryan; Colin and Sage Lovell.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Center Hill Baptist Church in Oakhurst with interment in the Center Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, April 5, 2013 from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the Huntsville Funeral Home. Memorial condolences may be made to the family at huntsvillefuneralhome.com.
