Robert Reed Shepherd

Robert Shepherd, 85, was born in Montgomery, Alabama in 1931. He was currently living in Madison, Alabama. Robert passed away Monday, November 14, 2016. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Bob” and Mary Shepherd; sister, Terry Ingram; and son, Greggory Lee Shepherd. Robert and Carolyn Wright Shepherd were married for 66 years. He retired from Hormel Foods, after 37 years. Robert was a 1954 graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Education. He enjoyed many years of beach camping and boating vacations with his family. After retirement, Robert and his wife Carolyn enjoyed traveling the country for over 10 years showing Boston Terrier and Brittany Spaniel dogs in the AKC Dog Show Circuits, finishing out many Championship dogs. Robert is survived by his wife, Carolyn Wright Shepherd; sons, Eddie (Helen) Shepherd of Madison, Alabama and Phill (Brenda) Shepherd of Wetumpka, Alabama; grandchildren, Robert (Jen) Shepherd, Nicole (Joey) Acre and Trammell Reed Shepherd; sisters, Mary Mac (William) Bruner, Jane Hill and Nancy (Thomas) Bonnett; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation and Funeral services are arranged by Valhalla Funeral Home. Visitation will take place Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 11:00 -12:00 followed by a family graveside service at 12:00.
