Nicole Hicks

Amie Nicole Hicks passed away Friday, December 24, 2021 in Huntsville, Alabama at the young age of 41. Nicole was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas on August 10, 1980. She graduated from Hazel Green High School in 1998. Nicole was creative and enjoyed photography, gardening, restoring found treasures, and remodeling and decorating. Nicole is preceded in death by her mother and adoptive father Vicki and Francis Ward Jr, her father Gary Newberry, stepmother Dawn Newberry and brother Drew Newberry; her grandparents JB and Betty Karnes, Francis Sr. and Ann Ward, and Grady and Mable Newberry, and her sister-in-law, Kerri Hicks. She is survived by her husband, Jason Hicks and three sons, Hunter, Garrett, and Tyler Hicks, her mother and father in-law, Iva and Allen Hicks, brother-in-law Nick and wife Tasha, sisters Keisha Carter and husband Ross, Jessica Selvage and husband Kelvin, Brandi Newberry, Sara Goode and husband Scott Goode, Kayla West and husband Mack West, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Before her illness, Nicole was often found landscaping and spending time outdoors. She especially loved planting flowers for her grandma, Betty, to enjoy. She looked forward to annual 4th of July campouts and visiting friends and family from out of town. The first time she held Hunter and Garrett in her arms were the happiest moments of her life and she readily took Tyler in as her own son. Nicole suffered much loss in her short life and has left behind so many who love and miss her dearly.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Madison Hospital Staff for the special care and attention given to Nicole in her final days, especially her nurse, Marcy Foster, who offered company and prayed with Nicole before her passing. Visitation for Nicole will be held Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Rd Ne, Huntsville, Alabama 35811. Following the visitation will be The Celebration of Life Service at 3:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel, 698 Winchester Rd Ne, Huntsville, Alabama 35811.
