Larry was a graduate of Butler High School where he was a member of the basketball and baseball teams, served in the US Army, and earned a Bachelor degree from Athens State. He served in the US Army, and following active service he would then transition to 30 years of civil service, retiring from SAMD at Redstone Arsenal. After his retirement, he delivered flowers for Glenn's Florist, worked at Redstone Golf Course, and for Madison County for a few years before his health declined. He enjoyed playing golf, officiating for several sports, spending time with his grandkids, loved watching Alabama Football, taking trips to the casino and playing cards.
Larry is survived by his wife, Connie Y Couch; children Melissa Christ (Ronald), Amanda Gautney, James Rives (Brittni), Connor Rives (Amy), and Kelsey Cox (Josh); grandchildren Caleb Christ, Kailey Rives, Meredith Christ, D.J. Cox, Addyson Gautney, Aidan Simmons, Gavin Rives, McKinley Cox, Brynley Rives and Chesney Cox, and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Larry will be held Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Rd Ne, Huntsville, Alabama 35811. Following the visitation will be a celebration of life at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to his church Murphy Hill Baptist Church.
