Mr. Joseph Everett Goodwin, Jr., 90, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Huntsville Hospital surrounded by his family.
Mr. Goodwin is survived by his loving wife of close to 70 years, Vera Alline Williams Goodwin; his daughter, Vera Gentry and her husband Curtis of Lacey’s Spring, AL; his son, David Goodwin and wife Linda Meek of Huntsville; 2 brothers, Lawrence Goodwin and his wife Frances of Warner Robbins, GA, and Jack Goodwin of Fayetteville, AR; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; along with other nieces and nephews.
Joseph, a U. S. Navy veteran from WWII, was a faithful member of the American Legion in Huntsville. “Pappy” as he was affectionately known, was one of the world’s greatest fishermen and had numerous stories and a scrapbook to back up this claim. He will be dearly missed by many!
You may visit with the family at Valhalla Funeral Home on Saturday, January 17, 2015 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. There will be a funeral service conducted by Rev. Gregory Todd Cooper commencing at 2:00 PM in Valhalla’s chapel. The interment, with military honors, will immediately follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
