My prayers are with the Evans family. I worked with Charles during the mid '90s at the MSFC on Redstone Arsenal. He was a wonderful person to know and be around. I will cherish all the jokes and laughs we had when he visited our area of the HOSC. 

I want to send my deepest condolences to the Charles Evans, Sr. family for the loss of their husband, father, and grandfather.  Mr. Evans was a good man and we shared many conversations during church services at the Bicentennial Chapel on many occasions, which we all enjoyed.  Prior to that while growing up on Redstone Arsenal, he was the "big" father of one of my good friend, Charles, Jr., that we often turned to for guidance and coaching advice.  Recently, my family lost our father, so I understand what your family is going through at this time.  Stay strong and remember the good times that you all shared throughout your lives. Charles Evans Sr, lovingly known to me as Uncle Sonny, will remain a legend in our hearts. There are too many fond memories to share. However, one is more vivid than the others. I remember when he made me, his scrawny 7-year old niece, wake up at 7 am on a Saturday. Not one to hold a question, I asked why I had to get up early. He said that his kids had to get up early to get the day started; and since I was at his house, I did, too. No one questioned Uncle Sonny; so, I got up and tried to figure out what I could do. I spent about ten minutes following him around, talking his ear off. Soon enough, he told me to go back to bed. Uncle Sonny was incredibly kind, extremely funny, and immeasurably witty. Rest well!

My condolences to Mrs. Eula Evans and the family. I met the Evans while we were bowling on the Sue Koster Senior Bowling League on Mondays prior to the pandemic. They were a very warm and friendly couple. My prayers to the family.

I would always get excited when my Mother said Uncle Sony & Aunt Eula were coming to Tn and even more excited the time my Mom, me and my sister stayed with my Uncle & Aunt. I enjoyed being there with my cousins as well, and I still laugh when me & my cousin Sonia used to try and sneak out but the only way down was through the bedroom window on the ledge and landing in the big pool below, so that foiled those plans. I remember how Uncle Sony would talk to me and ask me if I was ok. I knew my uncle as a strong Man, that had a home and family full of love and stability. He put God first and always took care of Aunt Eula and his children. I always felt love & comfort at their home when I was there. In life we never want to lose the people we love, you will be greatly missed Uncle Sony. And your legacy will live on. 
My condolences and prayers to the family. May God hold you in his arms, it’s ok to cry, it’s ok to grieve any way you need to, and know that Uncle Sony was a great man a honorable man who loved his whole family. May you rest I’m peace Uncle Sony. Love your niece Julie Renee

We are grieved to hear of our friend Charles Evans transitioning from this life and world to his eternal home. Our prayers are for God to comfort and strengthen the family during this time of grief and mourning. Charles, Eular and Family will always be ingrained in our hearts for the love you gave us during the time of Maurice's birth, our first grandchild, when you lived above us in Wiesbaden, Germany.
God has called his forever Solider home to rest from his labor on earth.

His integrity was unquestioned by all who came to know him. He lived his beliefs day in and day out. Always the same. Always dependable. I treasure having known him and having called him friend. We learned from each other in those days at the 563rd but his support of our shared mission never wavered.  He was inspiring to so many young soldiers who, because of his counsel and support, went on to become successful soldiers and are a reflection of who he was. May you and the entire family take comfort in a life well lived.

SGM Evans was such a shining light in so many of our lives.  He was "our First Sergeant".  He was our leader.  He kept us motivated and disciplined, he kept the 563rs Ord Co (Nickel-Six-Tre) strong and as a result, the 563rd Ord Co was a well respected company in Germany.  So many of our military careers was a success as a result of SGM Evans.  Although he achieved the well deserved rank of Sergeant Major, he will always be my "First Sergeant".  As Milk said, we affectionately called him "Watashi".   Thank you for touching our lives.  May God bless and and keep you,  Rest in Peace Sergeant Major.  Love Ted & Marilyn
 

Shelia and I send our deepest condolences to the SGM (R) Charles Evans Family.  Charles and I grew up in the same church (Price Memorial A.M.E Zion church) in Cleveland, TN.  Charles and I also were brothers-in-arms together.  I will miss our conversations about our hometown.  SGM Evans fought a good fight and now it's time for a well deserved rest.

Pops will surely be missed, his personality and his appetite for S&V made us all enjoy giving him exactly what he wanted, FISH x2 or 3, lol. Im Grateful for all the memories that we'll hold onto and for being able to share in knowing you and the whole family. You always had a smile when I came around and you never treated me like an outsider. I was condidered family as an extra daughter and always will be. You are in the arms of God now where the Fish never runs out! Prayers and condolences to Momma Eula (I LOVE YOU), Diane & Donna, Charles Jr., Sonia, and Ernie. To Eula and the Evans family. On behalf of the Williams family, I would like to express our deepest sympathy to the family of Sergeant Major Charles Henry Evans. I feel so fortunate to have talked to him just 2 weeks ago and he sounded so good, and we laughed. He had such an impact on the lives of so many soldiers during such a stellar career. He was a mentor to our group and held our feet to the fire because he honestly believed in us. We achieved ranks of Chief Warrant Officer 5, Chief Warrant Officer 4, Sergeant Majors and First Sergeants; he did good. I am sure so many more reached the highest leadership positions. We affectionately called him “Watashi,” the simple meaning of Watashi is “I” Yes it was him. Rest in Peace Sergeant Major. With love from us all, Buttermilk & Beverly.

Our attempt is to leave "no one behind" who served his country during the Vietnam War era. With heartfelt thanks for his long service to his nation as a defender of freedom and protecter of our enduring values and culture, we honor the memory of Sergeant Major Evans, his family and loved ones. May he Rest In Peace and become a memorial to all of us who served with him during his generation.

Charles Evans is by far the best 1SGT I've had in my 20+ years in the Army. When I my mind starts wandering back to my days in the military, memories of 1SGT Evans and the rest of the gang at the 563rd always put a smile on my face. Rest in peace TOP. You're the best. 

Sgt Major Evans was my 1SGT when I arrived in Germany in 1984, always willing to help a soldier with any given task, can never forget his high posture while in formation.  Rest In Peace TOP. 

My very first First Sergeant in Wiesbaden, he was a good guy, funny and always fair to soldiers. He sure enjoyed the liquid lunch bunch gang. 

To Eula and Children, we the members of the Old-timers Social Club was deeply heartbroken to hear about your loss. You have our deepest and heartfelt sympathy.  We can’t imagine the pain that your hearts are feeling right now.  Charles was one of our founders, most dedicated and hard working member of our club. We are praying that God's LOVE and Healing Grace be with you all in this time of need. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
