Thelma Louise Goodnight, 100 of Huntington, passed away on Monday evening, September 23, 2024 at Peabody Memorial Home in North Manchester. Thelma was a 1941 graduate of Frankfort High School and later in 1947 graduated from the Good Samaritan School of Nursing in Kokomo. Thelma served a Huntington County Community School nurse for eight years and had also worked at Miller's Merry Manor and Huntington Memorial Hospital for several years. She was a member of the Alpha Sigma Epsilon Sorority, the Sunshine Home Economics Club, and the Ridinger Lake Homeowners Association. Thelma was also a first aid instructor for the American Red Cross. She was an avid NASCAR fan and loved to read.
Thelma was born on March 3, 1924 in Hillisburg, Indiana, a daughter of the late John William and Trela Levon (Malicoat) McAdams.
She was united in marriage to William H. Goodnight on December 19, 1947 in Tipton, Indiana. William preceded her in death on January 23, 1989.
Survivors include a son: Kevin (Linda) Goodnight of Huntington; a daughter: Kathi (Randy) Sands of Abilene, KS; four grandchildren: Jamin (Mandy) Sands, Nicholas (Jessica) Goodnight, Nathan (Brandie) Goodnight and Anthony (Kristia) Goodnight; seven great grandchildren: Walker Goodnight, Eliana Goodnight, Ainsley Goodnight, Emerson Goodnight, Ashton Berghoff, Alexis Sands and Kyle Sands, and two great great grandchildren: Xamarud Sands and Ryland Sands.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister: Mary Whaley.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, Indiana.
Funeral service will also be held on Monday, September 30, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. following the visitation at the Funeral Home with Chaplain Michael Deter officiating.
Interment will be at the Lancaster Cemetery in rural Huntington County.
