Shirley Ann Dower

Shirley was born on August 31, 1934 in Shenandoah, PA. She was the only daughter of Dryden and Emma (Powell) Boyd. She graduated from West Mahanoy Township High School in 1952. She enjoyed being a varsity cheerleader and could always be found at the FM Radio Station.

Shirley married the love of her life, Harold Dower, in 1956 and they moved to Philadelphia and started their family, raising their 3 children. Residing in Philadelphia, they enjoyed camping up and down the coast and visiting with relatives.

Her strong faith was apparent to those she came in contact with. She was a prayer warrior who could be counted on to pray for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.

During holiday meals, Shirley always reminisced about loved ones who had previously passed. She is now enjoying a feast at the Lord's table with those loved ones.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Harold J. Dower. She is survived by her children, Beth Ann (Dr. William) Gearhart, Susan (late John) Simpson, and Michael (Susan) Dower; her loving grandchildren, Megan Gearhart, Caitlin (Joel) Rineer, Ryan (Mollie) Gearhart, Eric (Elyse) Simpson, Colin Dower, Devin (Dante) Ippolito, Erin Simpson, Morgan Dower, Corey Dower; and nine great-grandchildren.
