Dorothy Kimble Wheeler died on Thursday December 8, 2010 at the age of 88. She passed away at her daughter and son-in-law’s residence in Pennington, NJ, where she had resided for the last 7 years. Dorothy was born in Trenton, NJ, married while serving in the Marine Corps during WWII, and later lived in Princeton, NJ, with her husband and three children. Dorothy and her husband, James Cooper Wheeler, retired in 1978 from the Princeton University and moved to Fort Myers, FL.
Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler participated in bowling leagues in Princeton, NJ, and in Fort Myers, FL; they also enjoyed golf, and were members of the Pike Brook Country Club in Belle Mead, NJ; Dorothy later became a member of the Fort Myers Women’s Golf League. Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler enjoyed 45 years of marriage before Mr. Wheeler’s death in 1991.
Dorothy had two sons; James Cooper Wheeler Jr. and John Warren Wheeler; a daughter, Judilee Wheeler Allen, and a grandson, James D. Wheeler. Dorothy is survived by her sister Marian Alpaugh, several cousins and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Services and internment will be held privately at the National Veterans Cemetery in Florida, where she will rest beside her husband.
